ssh Trey@edge-router

Trey - network engineering & cybersecurity, documented from the lab up.

I build and break networks in the lab so I understand them in production. This site documents my CCNA labs, my Python automation tools, and the security research I do along the way.

edge-router#show projects brief

Project Status Protocol Description
Lab-OSPF-01 up down Multi-area OSPF topology with route summarization and virtual links (Packet Tracer + real IOS). (In progress.)
Py-SubnetCalc up up Python CLI that plans VLSM subnetting from a requirements file - my first automation tool.
Py-ConfigBackup up down Netmiko script that backs up running-configs over SSH and diffs them nightly. (In progress.)
SOC-HomeLab up down Home SOC: pfSense, Suricata IDS, and a log pipeline for detection practice. (In progress.)
CCNP-Security-Notes admin down down Study notes and lab writeups for CCNP Security. (Planned.)

Status codes: up/up = shipped · up/down = in progress · admin down = planned

edge-router#show running-config | section me

I'm a CCNA-certified network engineer with a growing focus on network security. I learn by building: every new topic becomes a lab, and every repetitive lab task becomes a Python script.

Right now I'm deep in routing protocols, VLAN design, and using Python (Netmiko, ipaddress, scapy) to automate the boring parts of network administration. On the security side, I run a small home SOC and write up what I find here on the blog.
